Clevis Slip Hook with Latch

No.703005

The H-Lift Clevis Slip Hook with Latch is a heavy-duty, general-purpose rigging hook designed with a wider throat to allow chains or slings to slide smoothly, combined with a clevis base for quick and direct attachment.

  • Features a clevis pin and cotter pin base design that allows for fast, secure, and direct connection to standard chains without the need for additional coupling links.
  • Available in both durable carbon steel and high-strength alloy steel constructions to suit varying load requirements and rugged rigging environments.
  • Equipped with a spring-loaded safety latch that securely retains slings, ropes, or chains, preventing accidental detachment when the line goes slack.
  • Offered in a comprehensive range of chain sizes from 1/4 inch to 1 inch, providing Working Load Limits (W.L.L.) ranging from 1,950 lbs up to 26,500 lbs depending on the material grade.

Technical Data

The Forged Clevis Slip Hook with Latch is a highly durable rigging component designed for fast, secure attachments. Its wide throat allows the chain to slip freely, making it the ideal choice for creating choking hitches that tighten securely around loads during transport or lashing operations.

Grade 70 Clevis Slip Hook with Latch
⚠️ SAFETY WARNING: NOT FOR OVERHEAD LIFTING.
This hook is specifically designed for lashing, towing, and securement. It is strictly NOT suitable for use with Grade 80/100 chains or for any overhead lifting or load suspension applications.
🔗 Clevis Attachment

The "clevis" design features a U-shaped base with a removable load pin. This allows you to attach the hook directly to a chain link quickly and securely without needing any additional connecting links or shackles.

🪝 Slip Design (Wide Throat)

Unlike grab hooks, slip hooks are designed with a wide throat that allows the chain to slide through freely. This makes them the ideal choice for creating "choker" hitches that automatically tighten around a load.

🔒 Safety Latch

Equipped with a heavy-duty, spring-loaded safety latch that keeps the chain securely seated in the hook's bowl. This prevents the load from accidentally slipping out when tension is momentarily released.

🛡️ Material & Grades

Drop-forged, quenched, and tempered, then coated in bright electro-galvanized zinc. Available in "C" (Grade 43 Carbon Steel) and "A" (Grade 70 Alloy Steel) to match your chain's specific working load limit.

Q: What is the difference between a slip hook and a grab hook? [Image comparing a slip hook with a chain sliding freely through its wide throat vs a grab hook locking a single chain link in its narrow throat] A: A slip hook has a wide throat that allows the chain to slide freely through it, which is perfect for looping around a load and creating a choker hitch. A grab hook has a narrow throat designed to slide over a single link of chain and lock it in place, which is used for shortening chain lengths or creating fixed loops.
Q: Can I use a Grade 70 slip hook for overhead lifting? A: No. Neither Grade 43 nor Grade 70 rigging hardware is approved for overhead lifting. If you are lifting loads vertically with a crane or hoist, you must use Grade 80 or Grade 100 alloy components.
