Grade 80 Screw Pin Alloy Chain Shackle SDS type

No.502049

The Grade 80 Screw Pin Alloy Chain Shackle (SDS Type) is a high-strength, D-shaped lifting connector engineered for secure, straight-line pulls. Forged from premium alloy steel, it delivers exceptional durability and a superior strength-to-weight ratio for rigorous overhead lifting and industrial rigging applications.

  • Straight-Line Lifting: Features a classic narrow "D" (chain) profile designed specifically for single-leg, straight-line tension, preventing the load from shifting or sliding out of alignment.
  • Quick Attachment: Equipped with a threaded screw pin mechanism that allows for fast, efficient assembly and disassembly, making it ideal for temporary applications requiring frequent rigging changes.
  • High-Strength Alloy: Manufactured from quenched and tempered Grade 80 alloy steel, providing significantly higher Working Load Limits (WLL) and better wear resistance than standard carbon steel shackles.
  • Wide Capacity Range: Available in a comprehensive range of sizes from 5/16" to 2", reliably supporting heavy-duty loads with WLLs scaling from 1.2 tonnes up to a massive 55 tonnes.

Product Features

  • Chain / Dee Shape: The narrow "D" profile is designed specifically for in-line tension (straight pulling). Ideal for single-leg lifts or connecting to fixed points where multi-directional movement is not required.
  • Screw Pin Efficiency: Features a threaded pin for quick assembly and disassembly. Perfect for temporary "pick and place" applications where shackles are frequently moved or reconfigured.
  • High Strength Alloy: Forged from Grade 80 Alloy Steel, offering a superior strength-to-weight ratio compared to carbon steel. Proof load tested to 2x WLL.
  • Usage Warning: Do not use for side loading. For applications involving side loads or multi-leg slings, use an Anchor (Bow) Shackle instead.
Q: What is the difference between a Chain Shackle and an Anchor Shackle?

A: A Chain Shackle (Dee) has a straight "D" shape best for single-leg lifts. Anchor shackles have a bowed shape allowing for multi-leg rigging. The SDS Type is a Chain Shackle designed for straight-line pulling.

Q: Can I use Screw Pin Shackles for permanent installations?

A: No. Screw pins are for temporary use. For long-term or permanent installations, use a Bolt Type Shackle with a cotter pin to prevent the pin from backing out due to vibration.

Grade 80 Chain Fittings

G-80 Alloy Fittings / Grade 80 Sling Components

Grade 80 Sling Components are the long-established industry standard for chain slings and heavy lifting. Fully compliant with international lifting regulations and designed for durability.

What Does “Grade 80” Mean?

  • High-strength Alloy Steel
  • Min breaking force ≈ 4 × WLL
  • Heat-treated (Quenched & Tempered)
  • Standard: EN 818-4 / EN 818-6
  • Marked “G80” or “8”

Common Grade 80 Components

1. Master Links

Used to connect the sling to a crane or hoist hook.

  • Master Link (ML)
  • Master Link Assembly (Multi-leg)
  • Pear-shaped master links

2. Hooks

End fittings for secure load attachment.

  • Clevis Self-Locking Hook
  • Eye Self-Locking Hook
  • Sling Hook with Safety Latch
  • Foundry Hook
  • Grab Hook (Shortening)

3. Connecting Links

Essential hardware to join chains or fittings.

  • Clevis Connecting Link
  • Hammerlock / Coupling Link
  • Repair Link (Special use only)

4. Chain & Adjusters

The core lifting medium and adjustment tools.

  • Grade 80 Alloy Chain (Marked G80)
  • Shortening Clutch
  • Swivel (Bearing/Non-bearing)
  • Lifting Rings

Typical Applications

  • Chain slings (1 to 4 legs)
  • Construction & Civil Works
  • Manufacturing & Workshops
  • Steel Fabrication
  • General Industrial Lifting

Identification Marks

  • Grade: G80 / 8
  • Manufacturer’s ID
  • Size or WLL (Working Load Limit)
  • Traceability Batch Code

Grade 80 vs. Grade 100

Feature Grade 80 Grade 100
Strength Level Standard Industry Standard +25% Higher
Component Size Larger Smaller (for same WLL)
Weight Heavier Lighter
Cost More Cost-Effective Higher

⚠️ Safety & Compatibility Notes

  • DO NOT mix Grade 80 components with other grades (G70, G100) in the same sling leg.
  • Always match Grade 80 chain with Grade 80 fittings.
  • Observe sling angle factors and WLL reductions during lifts.
  • Inspect regularly for: Wear (>10%), Cracks/Distortion, Corrosion, or Heat Damage.
