Permanent Magnetic Lifter (PML Series)

High Safety Series for Strict Industrial Environments
Premium 3.5:1 Safety Factor NdFeB Magnets Zero Electricity CE / EN 13155

The PML series represents our highest standard in manual magnetic lifting. Engineered with a superior 3.5:1 Safety Factor, it provides an extra margin of security for critical lifting operations. Utilizing high-grade Neodymium magnets, it offers immense holding power for both flat plates and round steel components without the need for an external power source.

⚠️ Critical Safety & Operational Guidelines

  • Surface Contact is Crucial: The rated lifting capacity relies on a clean, flat contact surface. Rust, paint, mill scale, or air gaps will drastically reduce the magnetic hold.
  • Material Thickness: Thin plates cannot absorb the full magnetic flux. Always refer to the thickness derating chart before lifting thin materials.
  • Manual Safety Lock: Always ensure the handle is fully engaged to the "ON" position and the safety lock button has clicked into place before initiating a lift.

Key Features & Advantages

Premium 3.5:1 Safety Factor: Engineered to withstand 3.5 times the Working Load Limit (WLL) before breakaway (e.g., the 1t model requires 3.5t of force to pull off). This provides unmatched security for strict safety protocols.
Superior Holding Power: Powered by premium Neodymium (NdFeB) magnets, ensuring stable, permanent magnetism that will not degrade over time or fail during power outages.
Dual-Purpose Base: Precision-machined with a V-slot on the lifting face, allowing the lifter to safely securely handle both flat steel plates and cylindrical loads like pipes and solid shafts.
Safety Locking Handle: Features a positive mechanical locking mechanism that secures the lever in the 'ON' position, preventing accidental de-magnetization during transit.
Rugged Durability: Built with a robust painted steel housing and a corrosion-resistant, chrome-plated shackle designed for heavy industrial longevity.

Selection Guide & FAQs

Q: What is the difference between this PML Type and the PML-A Type? A: The primary difference lies in the safety margin. This PML Type features a higher 3.5:1 Safety Factor, meaning its maximum pull-off strength is 3.5 times its rated capacity. The standard PML-A Type operates with a 3:1 factor. Choose the PML series for environments with stricter safety compliance protocols.
Q: Can this lifter handle round steel components? A: Yes, the V-slot base makes it suitable for lifting round bars and pipes. Please note: For capacities of PML30 (3000kg) and above, we strongly recommend using them exclusively for flat plates to ensure maximum safety due to the massive weight involved.

Principles for Selection

Magnetic lifters are versatile tools for handling steel plates, blocks, and rounds. They can be used as general-purpose accessories or dedicated to specific applications. However, proper selection is critical for safety.

⚠️ CRITICAL SAFETY NOTE:
Not every load with ferromagnetic properties can be safely handled. The lifting capacity is significantly affected by the thickness, surface finish (air gap), and chemical composition of the load.

Matching the Magnet to the Load

*Diagram illustrating how V-slots concentrate magnetic flux for round loads.

Shape Compatibility

The shape of the magnet face must match the load:

  • Flat Material: Requires a magnet with a flat face for maximum contact area.
  • Round Material: Requires a magnet with a V-shaped recess to properly center and grip the cylinder.

Long & Flexible Loads

For long or flexible plates that may peel off a single magnet, use an arrangement of several magnets in conjunction with a spreader beam. Ensure the magnets are spaced to provide adequate support along the entire length to prevent sagging.

Load Orientation

Lifting magnets are normally rated for lifting a horizontal load in the vertical plane only. If the line of pull is not perpendicular (at right angles) to the load surface, the lifting capacity is substantially reduced, and slippage may occur.

Key Selection Considerations

When selecting a magnetic lifter, evaluate the following 11 points:

  • 1. Capacity: Required Working Load Limit (WLL).
  • 2. Load Characteristics: Shape, surface finish (air gap), and steel grade.
  • 3. Operation Type: Frequency and nature of the lift.
  • 4. Compatibility: Type of hoist/crane the magnet is attached to.
  • 5. Headroom: Available vertical space for the lifter.
  • 6. Portability: Self-weight of the magnet.
  • 7. Controls: Manual lever handle vs. automatic cycling.
  • 8. Power: (If using electro-permanent) Electrical requirements.
  • 9. Personnel: Proximity of people during operation (Safety zones).
  • 10. Redundancy: Need for backup safety features (e.g., dual lock handle).
  • 11. Compliance: Required documentation and certification.
